Better Business Cases™ Online

The constantly growing pressure on public sector and private organisations to deliver more with less resources means that ‘spending’ decisions need to be clearly justified by a business case. Learn how to improve your decision-making capabilities and get better returns from your investment in change initiatives with our best practice, Better Business Cases qualification.

The Better Business Cases™ methodology is a great way to ensure everyone involved in the Project has an understanding of a proven process and techniques to make a stronger and more successful Business Case. Gain the knowledge and understanding of the guidance to work effectively with, or as a member of, a team to develop a business case using the Five Case Model process. Organizations will see an improved selection of the right programmes and projects, reduce unnecessary spend and optimize value.

Better Business Cases is a systematic and objective approach to all stages of the business case development process that sits alongside, and complements, the HM Treasury’s Green Book guidance. The Better Business Cases methodology is written by the UK Government Treasury in conjunction with the Welsh Government, is well tried and tested, and in their words has lead to “quicker and cheaper business decisions”.

The examinations are based on The Five Case Model, the International best practice approach to planning spending proposals and enabling effective business decisions. Providing a step-by-step guide to developing a business case, by:

  • Establishing a clear need for intervention – a case for change
  • Setting clear objectives – what you want to achieve from the investment
  • Considering a wide range of potential solutions – ensuring an optimal balance of benefits, cost and risk
  • Putting the arrangements in place to successfully deliver the proposal

The online Foundation course and examination is based on The Five Case Model, the UK government’s best practice approach to planning spending proposals and enabling effective business decisions.Your pathway to becoming an internationally certified Better Business Cases™ practitioner:
