This International Facilitation training & Certification provides knowledge and understanding of the Process Iceberg® methodology, it is a robust framework to enable specialists and managers to facilitate effectively.

/ WHAT IS

Facilitation is a common word used in a variety of different contexts. However, ‘being a facilitator’ for a group and ‘facilitating meetings or events’ requires key skills and a deep knowledge of the principles and concepts involved.

Facilitation is an output-orientated methodology, therefore a hard-edged skill. It is NOT a soft skill – it is not about soothing people, group dynamics, behavioural changes or team building. It does not mean that Facilitators are not interested in people, but it means the people in the room are a resource to get something done – to achieve an objective.

Tony Mann, who has been working in the field of facilitation for over 20 years, has developed a robust methodology that provides the structure and a variety of Models, Tools and Techniques to enable specialists and managers to be able to facilitate effectively.

The Process Iceberg® methodology is being applied in a wide variety of organizations and scenarios and its pragmatic, practical approach has gained a wide range of adherents in the public, private and charity sectors, both in the UK and internationally.

/ APPROACH AND DURATION

This event is a highly interactive and fun experience with tons of practical sessions, individual and team exercises that encourage delegate participation through structured hands-on activities while maintaining a good pace throughout the event. The incredibly enthusiastic facilitator is accredited by the APM Group and has many years of experience.

3 days: Foundation Training and Exam
2 days: Practitioner Training and Exam

FOUNDATION

The purpose of the Foundation qualification is to measure whether a candidate has sufficient knowledge and understanding of the event texts to contribute effectively as a process aware member of a group tackling a task.

Exam Format (Closed Book)

  • Multiple choice
  • 50 questions per paper
  • 25 mark or more required to pass (out of 50 available) – 50%
  • 40 minute duration

PRACTITIONER

The purpose of the Practitioner qualification is to confirm you have achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor facilitation principles and practice in situations addressing Tasks in Uncertainty, and managing groups that might not have sufficient Process experience. A successful Practitioner candidate should, with suitable direction, be able to apply facilitation principles to small groups as they work on real Tasks. They will have learnt a range of models, tools and techniques and more importantly be able to ‘hear’ which one to use in ‘live’, real situations.

Exam Format (Open Book)

  • Objective testing
  • 8 questions per paper, with 10 marks available per question
  • 40 marks or more required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
  • 2 ½ hours duration
